Vikki has been a close friend of mine for a very long time, and her love for equestrian fashion was a huge influence on the conception of TrendyEquine. Come rain or shine, Vikki never fails to pick out a gorgeous outfit from her (rather enviable) wardrobe, and add a glimmer of style to the yard. I just knew I needed Vikki by my side, because every good company needs a #DressageDiva
In her own words...
Hi. I’m Vikki, a 31 year old dressage rider from Essex. My love affair with horses started as soon as I could walk. At the time, we lived abroad and I was invited on daily beach rides with the tourists. I can remember much about the horses but little of the beautiful Caribbean waters... I had my priorities in order!
Back in the UK, aged six, my parents made the fatal mistake of asking if I wanted to continue ballet dancing or start another hobby, to which I replied I wanted to ride. I’d imagine they still regret indulging my decision!
As a child, I dabbled in a number of equestrian disciplines but from the age of 11 I knew I wanted to pursue dressage. Given my personal circumstances, I needed a career that would enable me to support my passion. So, fast forwarding a few years, I successfully balance a career in public health and my two KWPN mares, Colette and Hestia (or the divas as they are more commonly known in name and demeanour!).
In addition, I also ride and compete a number of other horses on behalf of their owners. Another key passion of mine outside of work is coaching. Watching horses excel with smiling owners keeps my passion alive and makes me truly love the sport I do!
Hestia (Hestharin S) is my main ride. She is six this year and is currently competing affiliated at elementary and working towards medium at home. She is the hottest horse with which I have worked but shows much promise. We are producing her slowly to build both her confidence and experience in competition.
My highlights to date include BD regional qualifications and a third place at the Winter Regionals. Next I plan to compete with Hestia at the Novice Summer Regionals and am still aspiring to ride down the centre line at the nationals soon! I’d also quite like to do my BD judge training, if I can fit that in somewhere too!
Given my sworn allegiance to all things matching and high-end equestrian brands, I am delighted to become part of Team Trendy. It’s great to be able to source the brands my horses and I love and use daily for both me and my horses in one place. I would welcome you all to invite Trendy to be your personal equestrian tailor... plus with #TrendyTuesdays and #FridayFavourites you’ll never be stuck for inspiration!
