When dreaming up TrendyEquine, we always pictured having a world-class rider by our side. Our wish list was pretty extensive: not only did they need to be a super talented rider, we wanted someone who shared our vision; was inspirational; dedicated; passionate; and importantly, someone who possessed style by the bucket load, both on and off the yard. So, understandably, we were excited when Great Britain International Grand Prix dressage rider, trainer and all-round superstar, Hayley Watson-Greaves, agreed to join us for the 2018/2019 season!
A bit more about Hayley...
Hayley – who is trained by the one and only Carl Hester – has a big smile and an even bigger heart. She embodies professionalism and understands the importance of using premium products for herself and her four-legged friends. Can you tell we’re smitten already?
As you can imagine, training with the godfather of the dressage world has had many a positive effect on Hayley (nicknamed ‘HWG’ at Trendy HQ) and her career as one of our country’s most elite riders. She’s already part of the World Class Podium Potential Squad, and on her current horse Rubins Nite, she was selected as a non-travelling reserve for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016. In terms of career highlights, there aren’t many higher accolades than representing your country on the biggest stage.
But being a dressage superstar doesn’t happen overnight, so where did the root of this success and talent start? Well, she has trained 4 horses from 2yo to Grand Prix elitism for starters, and has been a member of many GB Nations Cup team events over the years; most notably on the winning GB team at Compiegne CDIO 2017. Her notoriety reached a career high by the end of 2017 when she was crowned British Dressage Supreme National Champion. Her résumé is littered with success across every discipline in the equestrian world, and she’s only just getting started.
As well as being a top rider in her own right, she also teaches many clinics around the UK and abroad, and has many successful clients that compete at all levels. With this exhausting schedule, it’s no surprise that HWG spends more time in the saddle, and even longer in breeches than most, so she was the perfect candidate to help us ensure we deliver quality, premium products to our customers. Whether it’s summer sunshine or winter blizzards, it’s imperative that she has the right outfit to get the job done.
The beautiful thing about this new era of equestrian fashion, is that it allows every rider to dress to their own taste and requirements. HWG tends to opt for a high-waisted full seat breech (especially for competitions) with a stretchy and breathable fabric, and often layers a fleece or gilet over a technical base layer when riding. Classic navy is her colour of choice. Her horses are always dressed equally as classy as she is with Rubens Nite often found in black or navy, and chestnut Hector shines brightest in brown.
We’ll keep you all updated as we follow and support Hayley on her journey to stardom, but please give her a follow on social media for a glimpse into her world.
